Why have so few women artists made it into the museum canon and was "quality" ever really the reason?

Join us for an inspiring, interactive afternoon open to all art lovers and curious minds. Together, we will explore how women have historically been excluded from museum collections, why "quality" is still treated as an objective, connoisseur-defined standard, and what we can do to change that narrative today.

The afternoon kicks off with an engaging presentation by art historian Oana Stan, specialist in the Dutch Golden Age and founder of Women of Haarlem. Oana is passionate about uncovering the hidden histories of women and bringing them vividly to life. Through her work, she challenges the notion that women's history is a niche subject, creating a lasting platform that restores female visibility in the cultural and historical landscape.

Then, it’s your turn to step into the role of art connoisseur, dealer, and collector. During our blind-judging and collaborative workshop session, you will examine artworks without labels, question your own assumptions, and decide for yourself what makes art truly valuable, regardless of whether the hand behind it belonged to a man or a woman.

Expect deep insights, lively discussions, plenty of room to connect, and of course, coffee, tea and delicious homemade cookies.
